I Feel bitter sweet posting this but… Is there sucha thing as HEALTHIER CHOCOLATE 😂
Choosing dark chocolate that is at least 70% cacao presents with some amazing health benefits.
Or just eat some RAW CACAO (not cocoa-which is processed, less nutrient dense and not raw)
While I DO eat other (if not all) kinds of chocolate that usually have a ton of sugar added to them, true benefits lie in the sweet bitterness of raw cacao:
1) ❤ Health-The European Heart Journal published a study proving that small doses of at least 70% cacao decreases the risk of heart attack and stroke by almost 40%
2) Improves mood🤗- We all know chocolate can make you happy but what’s the science behind it? Just the sugar or more? Anandamide which is present in cacao binds to our cannabinoid receptors in our brain to give us that feeling of happiness. Much similar to a ‘runner’s high’🏃♀️ or ‘adrenaline rush’
3) Antioxidants & magnesium- Raw cacao contains more than 20x the antioxidant power of blueberries. It is also a great source of plant-based magnesium. Ladies this may be why you reach for chocolate before aunty flo knocks on your door. Magnesium deficiency can lead to painful periods😖 Magnesium helps relax your muscles, quiets nerves and reduces sensitivity to pain. I’d definitely also suggest a magnesium supplement.
